About

Eleanor Vanden Heuvel is a graduate student with the Department of German and Romance Languages and Literatures at Johns Hopkins University.  Vanden Heuvel's research interests include modern Judeo-Italian literature, Yiddish literature, port literature, intersections between the visual arts and literature, and the Italian avant-garde.  She holds a BA in Italian Studies, with a minor in Art History, from Hunter College.  Vanden Heuvel's dissertation will examine Jewish literature in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries in the port cities of Odessa and Trieste.
