About

I'm a PhD candidate in the Hopkins History Dept.  I completed my MA at the University of Manchester in 2005 and my BA at Dalhousie University in 2001.

My current research focuses on intersections of labour, gender, technology and Imperial governance in late Victorian/Edwardian London and Dublin. Focusing on the Post Office's telegraph network, I am examining the cultural impact of boy messengers and female clerks on urban landscapes, and I am considering Irish imperial policy and nationalism through the lens of communication technology's human infrastructure.
